Nate and I pulled this from anonymous surveys of technology folks. These came up repeatedly as things job seekers want to know from recruiters. Or things they ask during interviews. Or how they decide on an offer.
1. Money. If this question ever comes up on Family Feud, it’ll be the #1 answer. 100%.
2. Remote policy. Tech peeps have the most opportunities. If they want to work remote, they can. If you’re open to that and you’re not saying it up front, it’s a huge miss. If you’re not open to it...you’re gonna struggle hiring tech (and probably any skill set).
3. Interview process. Software engineers have more opportunities than they can possibly chase down. So they want to know how much time it’s gonna take to see if it’s even worth it. If you can’t lay that out, you’re missing out on people.
4. DEI and culture. You may not be where you want to be yet, but are you trying to get there? job seekers want to hear about it.
5. The team. What people on Glassdoor think? What do people who work there now say? Or past employees? Why do people stay? When's the last time interviewers worked after 6pm and how often does that happen?
6. The leadership. Who does this position report to? What’s their philosophy? And vision? Why do they want to work there? What do their reports and peers say about them?
Want to get more candidates interested? That’s what you’ll want to talk about. Do with it what you will...
