Imagine hiring for the same roles over and over...but still needing a full slate of candidates every time.
A dev manager knows what a good developer looks like, right?
A sales manager knows who has the makings of a good junior salesperson, right?
Sure, more options are better than less. But the extra time it takes?
đEvery day you make the ârightâ candidate wait, the less likely you are to get them on board.
Yet it still happens. âComparison candidates.â When they could just compare based on their previous experience.
Is it Cover Your Ass behavior? Showing âdue diligenceâ because theyâre afraid to make the call?
Nonsense Requirement Addiction? A certain industry experience, a certain degree, a certain *gasp* age biasâŠ
Or is free research? Using interviews as a way to learn the market instead of, well, networking or paying an expert.
I donât know. But itâs weird.
This clip came from our last 10 Minute Talent Rant âHiring Managers: You Might Want to Show Some Hustle on These Interviewsâ, here.
It was one of many quick takes we had on interview processes being needlessly long.
But we realized the whole topic has a lot of legs.
So the follow up TODAY (Tues 8/25/2021) at 11am CT:
