I don’t sell marketing services. When I talk about content creation, there’s no angle. I enjoy it and I like helping others. It’s worked for us. I think it can work for you, too.
A lot of the for-profit content influencers lead people down the wrong path. Vanity metrics, e.g. likes & followers, can make you well-known. But the way you get there (posting easily-agreeable content) won’t build domain credibility.
No one will seek out your expertise because you made the obvious take on a trending topic. Or posted a cat video.
I love a good meme account. But I won’t hire them for anything.
A lot of commonly-accepted content best practices are garbage. Not that they’re wrong, but unnecessary. Only 1 thing truly matters:
If you want to gain new clients, your content should answer real customer questions.
Everything else is a waste of time.
Even this video is an example. A (recruiting) client who wants to get into content struggles to come up with things to talk about.
But it’s really simple. You don’t have to come up with ideas. Just talk to your customers. The rest will take care of itself.
