Why video? It’s the nonverbal cues, stupid.
Yes, writing skills are important (this is the hill I’ll die on.) But the written word itself is impersonal. Context is lost. Your tone doesn’t come across. People read things the wrong way.
Job seekers want to know who they’re going to work for. Writing alone doesn’t express that.
What does conversational mean? Literally 2 people talking to each other. Record those. Zoom has a button, click it.
Rehearsed monologues are stuffy and lifeless. High production video looks cool on the surface, but doesn’t wow anyone on a deeper level.
Allowing someone to see and hear a real interaction is the next best thing to talking to you directly.
