Every recruiter once worked in an absolutely dreadful environment. (Usually their first.) That’s the industry in-joke.

The not-so-funny reality is how many recruiters are still trapped there. Or despite great talent, were so jaded they bailed on the recruiting entirely.

Those of us who survived our churn and burn, micromanaged hell of a first gig tend to find each other. Sharing horror stories of toxic culture, greedy ownership, idiotic metrics, and most important of all: a realization that we should have left sooner than we did.

The stink of it never goes away though. For you industry vets, how many times have you heard “I had a bad experience with a recruiter” and had to fight an uphill battle? For something that had nothing to do with you. Impossible to count.

We can deal. But real talk: it’s a great career. You help companies hire. You help people get jobs. Tangible, meaningful results.

It’s not curing cancer, but there are countless industries I could throw shade at for having a net negative effect on society. Or not really doing much of anything at all.

That’s why it’s heartbreaking when new recruiters bail. We could use more good ones. But they thought that’s just how things were everywhere.

So if you think you can be good at this but realize your company is a pile, hit me up. We place recruiters at our clients and hire internally.
