In case you didn’t get the memo: the age of “employer prestige” is over.
Reputation still attracts people to apply. But by itself? It doesn’t land new hires.
👉And not at the expense of competitive comp.
Or cool challenges. Or a positive work culture.
No company is so damn good that people will sign the offer letter based on name alone.
While employer prestige is over, employer arrogance isn’t.

👉Because there’s a ridiculous amount of great companies now. With great culture. And good pay.
Those high in demand candidates have other options. At places that are (*gasp*) better than you. (No matter who you are, there’s always someplace better.)
No one’s landlord accepts “bought my way onto the Top 10 Best Place To Work list” or “your parents heard of us.”
Want to know why positions stay open for 6 months? This is why. (Err…one of the many reasons why. Future 10 Minute Talent Rant topic, 100%.)
As Mitch Sullivan likes to say “Do they think they're doing these people a favor just by having job vacancies?”
