If you had some key players leave your team recently, you're not alone. I've had a few contacts surprised by this.
And no, these were not undervalued employees people who were taken for granted. Their companies didn't mishandle the pandemic/remote work response.
And that’s the crazy part about this market. Job seekers have all the leverage. Even places that have “done everything right” are still filling the gaps.
PTO used to limit the ability to interview. Getting away from the office was a pain in the ass. Even in a hot market, you could only evaluate a couple things at a time.
Zoom has completely changed the job seeking game forever.
Add the insane hiring levels of this market. Your top people could be happy and rewarded, but still be able to find something better.
There’s always something better.
I’ll talk about of both sides of my mouth there:
Managers: Get ahead of it. If you have great things coming, don’t assume your team knows it.
Employees: This is your moment to test the waters. If not now, when?
