We’ve hired 10 people so far this year. 7 of them we’ve known for at least 6 months.
Some of them for a year or more.
In 2015 we hired Jeff Smith. He’s now a partner and runs our managed recruiting org. He’s basically our head of ops. (Not to mention our 4th best content creator. Maybe 5th).
We first met Jeff in 2010.
This has been the norm. We meet great recruiters all the time. They’re just not always at a point when they’re ready to make a move.
I don’t mean this part as a humblebrag: Q1 was our biggest quarter ever. In the middle of a pandemic.
As a business outcome, this would be impossible had we not taken a long term view on our own hiring.
Why do I bring this up? As long as I remember, I’d have candidates not be interested in companies because they already talked with them. Years ago sometimes. And had a terrible experience.
Good first impressions + personalized long term follow up.
That’s the secret sauce.
