One of the many hills I’ll die on: goodwill is the best way to get new business. It’s not sexy but I swear by it.
Nish Parikh (from Rangam) and I spoke about this in regards to content. But it really applies to how you treat people and go about business in general.
You want people to turn to you when they need to buy? There’s only one way to do that.
By being there the rest of the time.
I define value as teaching someone something they didn’t already know. Or a new perspective they didn’t already have.
That’s what we strive to do with our content. Maybe we’re not always right. Maybe you sometimes disagree. But that’s still the intention.
And it’s not just about social posts. There’s lots of way to do this. Answer every email. Participate in communities like Slack channels or Facebook Groups. Take that Zoom request from someone who needs a hand.
It'll come back around. And it sure beats the hell out of cold-calling.
