At the risk making a “yeah, no sh*t” take, poor employee engagement is a huge issue. It’s a top 5 reason for why employees leave their jobs.
The others aren’t always in your control. A change in life situation. Some other companies have deeper pockets than you. They finished all the coolest stuff already. There’s like a pandemic or something and you got crushed. It happens.
The issue with engagement is you can trick yourself into thinking you’re doing something. Surveys are easy to send out. The occasional one-on-one. Technically, you’re listening to them. But what happens next?
When people don’t feel like they’re being heard, the frustration is real. Because being heard is not enough.
You get tuned out. They start looking. As they should.
