You’re not going to believe this. But I have hot takes on where the recruiting industry is headed.
1. Contingent search will slowly go away. It’s already happening. And that’s a win for everyone.
Companies need more help than just sourcing. Tons of heavy lifting goes on behind the scenes. ATS management. Interview set up and process flow. Position/salary research. Unified messaging. And crazy things like providing a positive candidate experience...
Recruiting firms, on the other hand, are going to start realizing they can’t afford to work for free.
Value-add business models are what meets in the middle.
2. Recruitment tech is gonna happen. Yes, I dump on this a lot. For 20 years, every piece of recruitment tech has promised to flip the industry on its head. But they end up being more widgets recruiters use. (Maybe LinkedIn itself is the exception here).
Why? Because the tech hasn’t been deep enough. And those making it haven’t understood the real use cases.
But I don’t think that will last forever. Eventually, someone’s gonna figure it out and everything will change.
Maybe I’m wrong. But I think it’s a matter of time.
