When I talk to an HR contact who needs to hire a recruiter. Their personal motivation, 9 times out of 10:
đThey want recruiting taken off their plate. ASAP.
Itâs literally the most common thing we hear.
We talk to creative and strategic HR folks all the time. Shocker: they like HR. If they wanted to do recruiting, they would.
Itâs not that they donât know how. Or canât. A lot of HR peeps started their career in recruiting. Then they got out of it. BecauseâŠthey hated it.
Weâre not saying HR is the worst place to house recruiting.
We are saying: theyâre two totally different functions. Thereâs always going to be some gap or level of friction between them.
Which is why we advocate for the Chief Hiring Officer. If youâre serious about scaling your hiring, put it at the top.
