When people ask you to explain your post, you know you didn’t go deep enough.
I honestly thought this was self-explanatory. Nope. Classic case of being your own head.
I’ll expand: when we started doing conversational videos, hiring became exceedingly easy. Candidates brought it up in literally every interview. Everyone else I know who does this has said the same.
Turns out when people have a window into your conversations, there’s a stronger connection than reading crappy text on your careers site. Same as how you feel like you ‘know’ the people from your favorite morning show but have no idea who writes most articles you read.
A random musing:
Shout out to latch-key kids who enjoy the value of brooding.
And last, a promo.
Jeff Smith and I have had a blast railing on talent related issues in our 10 Minute Talent Rant series. But we realized something recently: we’ve mostly been railing on companies and their bad processes.
Can you blame us? There’s just so much to cover. And the peanut gallery loves it.
Still, it’s a little unfair, don’t ya think? People do dumb stuff too.
All jokes aside, we’re here to help. So we want to address an area where people hold themselves back: obsessing over titles.
