"Overrated" vs "Garbage" - What's the Difference? (w/examples)
The return of Saturday Troll Posts™️
Everyone has their go-to words. When it comes to rants, two of my favs are overrated and garbage.
But did you know these words have very different meanings? An analysis:
Overrated: this one confuses people. Overrated doesn’t mean it sucks, it just means it’s not nearly as good as you think it is. Not terrible, but definitely not great. On a scale of 1-5, we’re talking 2-3 range.
Some examples of overrated:
Intermittent fasting
(Faux) personalization in messaging
Employer Value Propositions
Clubhouse
Golf
Apple’s entire product catalogue
The Rolling Stones
Your coworker's understanding of sports betting
Garbage: ok anything pegged as ‘garbage’ really is trash. On a scale of 1-5, 0 every time. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.
Some examples of garbage (facts not opinion):
Personality tests in hiring
Starbucks
Mumble rappers
Ageism
Vanity metrics
Phish
Friday afternoon meetings
The Cleveland Browns
DC comics movies
Posts that ask for engagement at the end
