There’s only one argument that matters in the remote vs flex vs in office debate: the size of the talent pool.
Hiring is a struggle right now. Everyone is looking for ideas.
Should we flex on years of experience?
Offer higher salaries?
Loosen our requirements?
Give bigger referral bonuses?
Upgrade our recruitment marketing?
*gasp* Partner with a really, really ridiculously good recruiting firm (like Hirewell 😉)?
It’s a bit of everything. But people underestimate how massive the divide is with candidates preference on remote work.
Some stats**:
58% of workers would “absolutely” look for a new job if they cannot continue remote work
65% want to remain full-time remote workers after the pandemic
33% prefer a hybrid work arrangement
2% say they want to return to the office full-time
This is the candidate pool. If you’re not full remote, 65% of people are putting you at the bottom of their list. If you’re all onsite, 98% of people have you at the bottom.
In a hot market. When everyone is hiring.
There are legit challenges to remote. But do yourself a favor:
Allow for as much remote work as you possibly can.
Advertise that policy so everyone can see. Doesn’t make much of a difference if no one knows.
Hirewell is hiring experienced, US-based agency recruiters full remote by the way. Hit me up if you want to chat about it.
