Sick of applying to hundreds of jobs that go nowhere?
The hidden job market is easier to find than you think.
Job seekers, listen up. If you're sick of applying to hundreds of jobs that go nowhere, it’s time to try something new.

I feel strongly that semi-private communities will displace some aspects of social media. Communities are better than audiences. The Influencer/follower dynamic is just ok. Networking with people on equal footing is better. Platforms like Slack and Facebook Groups* enable this.
I posted about this last fall to see who was having success. The feedback was interesting: not many people have used these communities for their search.
But those who did had phenomenal success.
Why?
They’re less crowded. The whole world isn’t applying to jobs posted there.
Communities go the extra mile. It isn’t about applying to jobs, but making real connections and getting introductions.
The downside: it’s hard to find them. They’re largely word of mouth. But some time on Google can pay off.
I joined Support Driven, Chicago Tech Diversity, and Chicago Tech. All came highly recommended.
*I still hate Facebook by the way. But it works. Allegedly.
