This morning I was doom-scrolling LinkedIn. And my email. And Twitter.
I had a realization: everyone’s just talking at me.
I had a bigger realization: oh crap I do the same thing myself.
I wanted to talk about proper messaging for recruiters. I have opinions on this. But...no one’s really trying to recruit me. (Sad feels.) I’m a Partner at my firm, I’m not really a prime target for anyone.
Point being: I don’t actually know “what works.” Not being on the receiving end, no one has really compelled me to say “hell yeah let’s take a look at this one!” It's really easy to be too close to something and think you're right.
What I want to know (and there is where you reply to the newsletter): when a recruiter contacted you, what actually made you respond?
Personalized touch?
Well-articulated value of the company/role?
Company name included?
Salary range included?
A fun/unique tone?
Already familiar/interested in the company?
Already knew the recruiter?
Hit you up on the right day?
Included a video description?
Provided more details elsewhere (careers site, reviews site, etc.)?
Something else entirely?
Hell no you’d never respond to a recruiter no matter what?
Hit me up with a reply. Yes that’s me talking at you again. :)
