Quite a few new subscribers lately, so a few things:
This newsletter is pretty much the content I put out on LinkedIn, though sometimes with a little extra commentary (like right now.)
The purpose is really to make it easier to follow along with what I’m doing, if you so choose. LinkedIn’s algo is a mess and you never know if and when you’re going to see anything from the people you want.
Thanks to everyone who has signed up, I do appreciate it. Please recommend it to others who you feel may dig it.
I write about hiring and content. And hiring content. And I usually add some snark. I get cranky.
Tuesday is the day where I recap:
Anything too short to justify sending out a newsletter for (you’d all just get really annoyed by two sentence newsletters.)
My Saturday Troll Posts™️
Any live event promos or episodes that have been posted to YouTube.
You’re all caught up. Now let’s get on with it.
Some meta humor that sorta landed.
May have been a little too inside-baseball. Most people probably don’t notice the amount of personal newsletter that have been popping up, but once you do, it’s a full on Baader–Meinhof phenomenon. Seriously, you’re going to see them everywhere now.
“Employer brand is too big of an undertaking. Wouldn’t it be easier to place more job ads?”
Swap out “job ads” with “hire more recruiters.” Or “buy more sourcing tools.” Whatever floats your boat.
The answer is still no. Not because those things aren’t easier or even effective on their own. But because they don’t have the wide ranging (and unexpected) benefits of content creation.
Nate Guggia and I will discuss how the payoffs from content are often in completely unexpected areas in the Employer Content Show, Episode 12: “How Content Achieves Multiple Outcomes”
Wednesday, February 17rd at 2:30pm CT.
