Recruiting rewards longevity. More years ➡ deeper network ➡ more success.
Yet the industry is painfully focused on the short term.
Let’s revisit the inbox of a software engineer (here).
Absolutely flooded. If you’re an experienced dev, you’ve got more inbound job leads than you can handle.
As I mention in the video, a friend of mine gets 20-30 a week.
And he responds to Every. Single. One.
And mostly gets ghosted.
When he says how much he’s making, it’s crickets.
Instead of building relationships for the next job that comes up, most of the industry just keeps pumping out more and more InMails.
It’s insanity.
And here’s the thing: technology can’t fix this.
It’s a human issue.
What’s the root cause here? Poor training? Bad management? Unrealistic goals?
Does it matter?
I’ve never been a “be better” kind of guy. We’re all adults. It’s your career. Make your own decisions.
But if your management is pushing you this way: you’re in the wrong place.
