Everyone talks about being authentic on social. But most struggle to actually do it. That’s because there’s so much bad and even fraudulent advice.
I mean this with love: we’re all guilty. Everyone who has ever used social for their business googled how to do it. And read the same crappy recycled blogs.
My 3 levels of fraud:
Tier 1 - Literally everyone at some point. Worried about time of day. What types of posts get the most likes. Preoccupied with replies. Unnecessary tagging of people. Etc.
None of it matters. At all. But no biggie.
Tier 2 - Chasing the authority bias. Your words, as good or as dumb as they are, carry more weight with a high follower count.
These people take algo hacking to the extreme. Easily agreeable content. Adopting social causes without skin in the game. And of course, engagement pods.
Tier 3 - Actual fraud. Selling courses to people who want to be on your level. While leaving out how you cheated your way there with pods. And your ‘clients’ don’t make a dime.
Meanwhile, all you have to do to build credibility is give people something new to think about.
Content really is that simple.
