The tired take on COVID: companies who don’t embrace remote work are screwed. Duh. Literally everyone hammered this point home.
But the implication is that those who embrace remote will have an easy go. Smooth sailing.
This is absolutely not the case.
Some context. If you’re not aware (soft pitch warning), Hirewell places internal recruiters. It’s our 2nd most common skill, right after software developers.
Remember Q1 of 2019? The market was hot. Still, our total openings for internal recruiters in Q1 2021 was DOUBLE that of 2019.
The demand for internal recruiters has absolutely exploded.
Why? Because even companies who are embracing remote work no longer have the niche advantages they once did. With geo boundaries smashed, their location/industry advantages are gone even if they go full remote.
Here’s the rub: a lot of companies don’t know how broad the recruiting skill set really is. The ability to ‘sell’ isn’t a given. Some recruiters spend their careers managing ads, which won’t help here.
So how will that all pan out? We’ll find out in Q2...
