The future of (smart) talent acquisition will include 3 strategic competencies:
1. Process, systems & data. Every gripe people have with recruiters comes down to poor process. Recruitment tech doesn’t work out of the box. And VERY few talent teams optimize either.
Integrate your ATS with other systems so it all talks. Create a notification structure so follow ups aren’t missed. Structure data to eliminate the resume black hole. Create a coherent and consistent interview process.
Tech and process should enable more human interactions. But for most it creates a bigger headache.
2. Content, messaging & branding. People only search for companies they've heard good things about. When you’re a destination firm, hiring is easy.
Create engaging content that articulates your domain knowledge. Enable hiring managers to be visible in their skill community. Write jobs descriptions that actually say something useful.
People should feel they know what it’s like to work there before talking to anyone.
3. Recruitment. Duh. This ain’t going away.
Adding more recruiters without 1 and 2 just fills a leaky bucket.
