The point of hiring a recruiter is to turn over every stone.
Not every search demands it. Some are easy. They’re filled with inbound traffic. Or referral networks.
But at some point, that won’t work. And that’s when companies need to make strategic recruiting decisions.
Do we build an internal team? Leverage a specialized recruiter? Pay for sourcing help? Use a hybrid partnership model?
Lots of reasonable options. But there’s one that straight up sucks: throwing multiple contingent firms at it. You pay a ton of money to wreck your brand.
There’s a lack of understanding about the complexity of recruiting in 2021. Everything is headhunting. Every search we do is going after the ‘passive candidate’ market. Building relationships with people who are currently working.
It’s time intensive. You need a firm grasp on the candidate’s motivations. And the company’s value.
All the things that build “candidate experience.”
Which is why engaging multiple firms on a Hunger Games basis is insane. You put their time at risk. And disincentivized them to do the real work.
But if you like low hanging fruit and cut corners, have at it.
