A few observations:
๐~85% of the tech talent isnโt in New York or San Francisco
๐~60% isnโt even in the 10 largest markets
๐If we go way down the list, we find the 1% club. Cities in the 24-30 range (either category) that have a sizable ~1% of the tech professional market: Detroit, Miami, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Calgary, and Ottawa. Thatโs a LOT of people not even in the 20 biggest markets.
๐The resurgence of the return-to-work narrative flies in the face of supply and demand. We saw software engineer salaries increase 11% last quarter. Demand is that high. Want to whittle the supply down to specific markets, just for onsite time? Good luck with that.
