A scenario from last week that illustrates how broken contingent recruiting is.
The CEO of a company messaged me needing to hire 20+ tech folks. Cool. I’m interested. But then the following ensued:
He said he had several other firms already working it. All contingent.
He wasn’t seeing any results. (Read: contingent isn’t working.)
His “fix” was to add more firms (Read: doubling down on the thing that isn’t working.)
I mentioned we wouldn’t do contingent. We had a better and more cost effective delivery model that I’d be happy to explain live. If he’s interested. Whatever. I had low faith at this point. But he agreed.
He then:
Rescheduled call 1.
Rescheduled call 2.
No-showed call 3.
Hmm. I wonder why he’s struggling to hire?
