Nate Guggia and I had a viewer question on the last Employer Content Show. What should employer brand professionals do during a crisis?
Pick any example you want. An exec said something incredibly racist. The feds accused your company of fraud. Your airplanes fell out of the sky. Any crisis will do.
A key thing to remember: employer brand is not public relations. It isn't their job to put window dressing on deep-seeded company issues. Employer brand's job is to accurately and ethically reflect a company's value to prospective employees.
Here’s the litmus test for EB peeps:
Do you have a seat at the table in handling the crisis?
Is the company making an honest effort to fix things?
If the answer is no, you can’t function ethically.
Thus my take: if a company is garbage, pack it up. They don’t deserve you.
