You may or may not realize this: every day, recruiters are targeting your employees.
And when word gets out that you’re returning to the office, you jump to the top of everyone's target lists. And it’ll never stop.
Return to work is like Schrödinger's cat in this regard. It’s both happening and not happening at the same time.
You may see other companies doing it. Safety in numbers, right?
But just because you’re returning, doesn’t mean your team will. They don’t have to. Literally anyone in your org can get another job right now.
I don’t mean to overstate this. Not everyone sent back to the cube farm is going to bail. Some people may actually prefer time in the office.
But it’s irrelevant. Your hiring competitors will be hitting them up, 100%. What will it take for them to leave?
How confident are you that they're happy with everything else?
Comp. Promotion path. Communication. Fairness. Mentorship. Culture. Benefits.
👉All it takes is one bad day for someone to start accepting those InMails. Your margin for error is razor thin.
Separate from return to work, you should already be evaluating your employee satisfaction.
But if you’re not? And you’re making a return to office plan?
RIP your retention.
